The UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs
The treaty that still frames cannabis law worldwide. It merged earlier agreements, placed cannabis in its strictest categories alongside heroin, and required countries to limit it to medical and scientific use. Traditional use was to be phased out within 25 years.
