At the UN drug commission's rescheduled 63rd session on 2 December 2020, 27 states voted to move cannabis and cannabis resin from Schedule IV of the Single Convention to Schedule I. Kyrgyzstan was one of 25 states against, and its drug-control service said it would use the convention's right to keep stricter measures. The service said the country has more than 10,000 hectares of wild cannabis and that easing controls could worsen its drug situation.[1]
