Hemp 🇳🇵 Nepal

Ilam writes its own rules for fibre hemp

Ilam Municipality gazetted a Hemp Cultivation Promotion and Management Procedure on 25 November 2025 and invited farmers to apply in March 2026. The procedure allows cannabis only for fibre and yarn: farmers must notify the ward a week before flowers form so officials can destroy them, and the rest of the plant can be sold only to buyers the municipality approves. By April 2026 the municipality had 33 applications, while federal law still treated the crop as a narcotic.[1]
