The interior ministry's 2025 performance report put illegal cannabis cultivation at 20,627 hectares, down from about 134,000 hectares in 2003. It presented the fall as part of its supply-reduction strategy alongside the legal programme. The area remains far larger than the 3,141 hectares in legal production that year, and the figure is a government estimate rather than an independent survey.[1]
