In the second quarter of 2024 Morocco sent 100 kilograms of cannabis resin with less than 1% THC to Switzerland, the first export of cannabis grown legally on Moroccan soil. The resin sold for €1,400–1,800 a kilogram. About 200 operators were active and the licensed area had risen from under 300 hectares in 2023 to roughly 3,000 hectares. The volume was symbolic, but the government and investors presented it as the start of a European medical and industrial trade.[1]
