Kyrgyzstan replaces its Soviet criminal code

The Criminal Code adopted on 1 October 1997 and in force from 1 January 1998 replaced the 1960 code. It kept drug possession without intent to supply (article 246) and supply (article 247) as crimes, within a new post-Soviet criminal code. The code was amended repeatedly before the 2021 code replaced it.[1]
