Vietnam reports nearly 2.3 tonnes of cannabis seized in 2024

At its 2024 review on 6 January 2025, the Ministry of Public Security reported 29,928 drug cases and 51,938 suspects for the year. Police seized 60 kg of opium, 680 kg of heroin, nearly 2.3 tonnes of cannabis, and 3.3 tonnes plus 3.3 million pills of synthetic drugs. The case and suspect counts cover all drugs; the cannabis figure is a seizure total, not a case count. The UN drugs office later recorded 2,580 kg of herbal cannabis for Vietnam in 2024, against 727 kg in 2023.[1][2]
