The Dutch state ends its contract with its only medicinal cannabis grower

For more than twenty years the Office of Medicinal Cannabis bought all the cannabis that Dutch pharmacies dispensed from one domestic grower. That contract ended on 1 January 2026.[1] The office supplies pharmacies from stock until it switches to imported cannabis in 2027, and stops exporting to patients in other EU countries at the end of 2026. A law ending its monopoly, so that companies can supply pharmacies directly, is planned for mid-2028.[1]
