Mongolia records 405 drug crimes in 2024

Mongolia's prosecutor's office counted 405 drug-related crimes in 2024, 13 per cent more than in 2023, with 228 people implicated. Most of those accused were young adults: 69.4 per cent were aged 18 to 30, 86 per cent were men and 63.6 per cent were unemployed. The figures cover all controlled drugs, not cannabis alone, and the police attributed the rise to weak knowledge of the law and the search for easy money.[1]
