The Maldives introduces the death penalty for drug smuggling
President Muizzu ratified amendments passed by 65 votes to none. Death can be imposed for importing or possessing more than 350 g of cannabis, and only on a unanimous Supreme Court verdict; otherwise the sentence is life imprisonment.
