Japan banned the sale, possession and use of products containing HHCH, a synthetic cannabinoid sold in gummies, cookies and vape liquids, from 2 December 2023.[1] The health ministry acted after people in Tokyo and Osaka were taken to hospital after eating HHCH gummies, and inspectors ordered 43 shops to stop selling the products.[1] The ban covered HHCH itself, while the ministry said it would prepare a wider rule for similar compounds.[1]
