Iran says drug arrests passed 500,000 in 1404

Iran's Drug Control Headquarters said more than 500,000 retailers, distributors and people connected to drug offences were arrested in the Iranian year 1404, which ended in March 2026. It said seizures rose about 3% from 1403 but gave no cannabis breakdown. The same briefing said poppy cultivation remained banned and that a bill to amend the anti-narcotics law would toughen penalties for illegal cultivation.[1]
