Indonesia introduces Class I and the death penalty
Law 22 put cannabis in Class I, ending its restricted medical use and permitting it only for research. It doubled the maximum sentence for personal use to four years, set long terms for possession and cultivation, and introduced life imprisonment or death for serious supply offences.
