Cambodia abolishes the death penalty

Cambodia abolished capital punishment for all crimes in April 1989, and the 1993 Constitution kept the ban in Article 32. Drug trafficking later carried long prison terms and, at the top quantity bands, life imprisonment, but no drug offence could carry death. The abolition is the reason no cannabis offence in Cambodia can carry a death sentence.[1][2]
