Bangladesh files its first case under the new digital drugs offence

The Department of Narcotics Control filed a case against Daraz's managing director, a supplier and two or three unidentified people over THC-infused CBD oil it said had been sold on the e-commerce platform. The case was filed on 16 August 2026, after a raid in Badda arrested the supplier and recovered oil, materials and equipment. It was the first case under section 36A of the 2026 amendment, which can be punished with any term of imprisonment or death.[1][2]
