Netra News reported that law enforcement agencies filed about 1.2 million narcotics cases between 2009 and July 2025, naming more than 1.5 million accused. Cannabis accounted for more than 99 per cent of seizures by weight, while heroin and cocaine together were under 1 per cent. The investigation described police raids filmed for social media and minor offenders returning to dealing to pay bail and court costs.[1]
