The Taliban Supreme Court sets out drug sentences

The Taliban Supreme Court issued a decree in April 2024 spelling out prison terms for moving and trading drugs, building on a circular it had published in October 2023. Cultivation carried six to twelve months and trafficking one to seven years, depending on quantity. UNODC said the move changed activity in some drug markets, especially in western Afghanistan, but it stayed inside the existing ban.[1]
