Debate 🇹🇼 Taiwan

Taiwan's justice ministry says cannabis advocacy can be incitement

In August 2023 the Ministry of Justice issued guidance saying that advocating cannabis decriminalisation could amount to inciting others to use cannabis, a criminal offence. It also said Taiwanese who used cannabis abroad could be prosecuted at home. Lawyers and activists called the guidance a free-speech violation; Zoe Lee responded by filing a lawsuit against Elon Musk for praising cannabis, to show how far the rule could reach.[1]
