A South African court rules that growing cannabis for club members is still dealing

The Western Cape High Court in Cape Town refused to declare grow clubs lawful. The Haze Club, raided by police in October 2020, rented out space, equipment and gardening to members and grew their cannabis for them. Judge Hayley Slingers held that the right to grow for oneself cannot be handed to a club, and that allowing the model without regulation would in practice legalise dealing. Grow clubs, which had spread across the country after 2018, stayed open to prosecution.[1]
