Hemp 🇰🇵 North Korea

North Korea promotes wild cannabis as an oilseed crop

In the early 1980s Kim Il Sung directed that yeoksam, a cannabis plant that already grew wild on the peninsula, be cultivated to ease a cooking-oil shortage. The seed was pressed for oil and the plant was used as animal feed for rabbits, according to the economist Stephan Haggard. The programme was aimed at oil and fodder, not at producing a smoked drug.[1]
