The cabinet approved a revised narcotics law on 11 March 2026 and the justice minister submitted it to the Speaker on 18 March, with accompanying Criminal Code and infringement amendments. It had not been adopted by 28 October 2026, so the 2002 law remains in force. The draft would differentiate penalties by drug type and amount, which the current law does not.[1]
