The Council of Ministers approved a draft law to replace the existing drug law, widening offences to cover production, cultivation, possession, precursors and equipment and adding crimes for organising or financing criminal groups. It also proposes judge-authorised infiltration, electronic surveillance and phone interception, stronger asset freezing and confiscation, and a national drug-prevention commission, while keeping a treatment route for users. The bill still needed parliament's approval, and no adoption had been reported by 28 October 2026.[1][2][3]
