Kazakhstan introduces fines for using drugs in public

A law signed in January 2006 added a specific administrative offence for non-medical drug use in public places, punishable by a fine of one to two monthly calculation units.[1] Repetition within a year brought a fine of five to ten units.[1] The law declared commencement from 1 January; the public-use penalty later gained detention before becoming criminal in 2015.[1][2]
