Bombay High Court says ganja means flowering tops, not whole plants

On 20 September 2024 the Bombay High Court granted bail to a man found with about 50 kg of cannabis plant material in Buldhana district. The court held that ganja consists only of the flowering or fruiting tops, and that leaves, seeds, stems and stalks had to be separated and weighed separately before a commercial-quantity case could stand. The seized material was not shown to contain flowering tops, so the commercial-quantity threshold was not established.[1]
