An Indian court asks police to prove rats ate 581 kg of seized ganja

Asked by a special NDPS court in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, to produce marijuana seized by two police stations, police said rats had eaten more than 500 kg of it. The prosecutor told the court that "being small in size, the rats have no fear of the police". In an order of 18 November 2022 the court told the district's senior police superintendent to deal with the rats and to bring proof that they had eaten 581 kg, and issued directions for auctioning or disposing of drugs stored in police warehouses.[1]
