A Bulgarian court fines a multiple sclerosis patient for two plants

Marin Kalchev, who has multiple sclerosis, was caught growing two cannabis plants. A town court acquitted him; the Lovech District Court overturned the acquittal and fined him 1,000 leva for possessing 59.1 grams. His lawyer said he would go to the European Court of Human Rights. The case led the national drugs council to hold its first public meeting on medical cannabis that October.[1][2]
