The agriculture ministry and the food safety agency issued a free-sale certificate to the Californian firm Kannaway for its hemp-derived CBD products, classing them as traditional food supplements. It was reported as the first such decision in the European Union, three months after the European Commission had classed CBD as a novel food needing approval before sale. Under Bulgarian law CBD may be imported and sold but not produced in the country.[1][2]
