Congress delays part of the federal hemp-product ban

On 2 September Congress passed a continuing resolution, Public Law 119-103, that moves part of the new hemp definition from 12 November to 11 December 2026.[1] The exclusion of cannabinoids that a cannabis plant cannot produce naturally stays on 12 November, and from that day those products are marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act.[1] The rest of the definition, including the total-THC cap and the 0.4 milligram limit on a finished product, waits until 11 December.[1] The 2025 law that wrote the definition is unchanged apart from those dates.[1]
