The 2025 amendments to the narcotics law let schools report suspected student drug use in coordination with parents or guardians without starting a criminal case. Courts can suspend proceedings and order treatment in a rehabilitation centre for up to a year. The change took effect on 1 January 2026, in the same law that made deportation mandatory for convicted foreigners.[1]
