Indonesia removes minimum prison terms for cannabis offences

People prosecuted for planting or possessing cannabis no longer face a special four-year minimum prison term: the basic maximum remains twelve years, with prison and/or a fine. The reform also removes minimum terms for sale and giving drugs to another person, while retaining life and death alternatives for specified serious offences.[1] It took effect alongside the new Criminal Code, whose production and import offence replaces the old Article 113.[1][2]
