Dubai appeal court clears Filipina over cannabis extract

Dubai's Court of Appeal acquitted a 35-year-old Filipina who had been sentenced to 10 years and a AED 100,000 fine for bringing 20 grams of cannabis extract into the country. Customs found the extract in 20 vape cartridges hidden in pancake-mix packages at Terminal 3 on 15 December 2024. The trial court convicted her in March 2025 and ordered deportation; the appeal found no proof that she knew the cartridges contained the drug, cleared her and upheld only the confiscation.[1]
