Ban 🇹🇷 Türkiye

Türkiye's first republican criminal code jails cannabis users and sellers

The new Penal Code, Law 765, punished importing, transporting, selling, buying or holding cannabis for sale with at least six months in prison and a heavy fine. Using cannabis, or gathering to use it, carried two to six months and a smaller fine, and people described as addicted could be held in hospital until a doctor declared them cured. Supplying a person under 20 or using a forged prescription carried at least a year. The code came seven years before the 1933 narcotics law, which added the cultivation ban and a dedicated control regime.[1]
