Türkiye sets out prison, exile and hospital confinement for drug users

The revised criminal code prescribed two to six months in prison and a fine for drug use or possession.[1] Repeat offending could add internal exile in a small town, while people considered dependent could be confined in hospital until medical recovery.[1] The 1953 amendment later replaced the short prison range with three to five years.[2]
