Tanzania's Drug Control and Enforcement Act takes effect
The Act sets life imprisonment for trafficking and at least thirty years for growing a prohibited plant. Small amounts, up to 50 g of cannabis, bring a fine, up to three years in prison or both. A dedicated enforcement authority began work in 2017.
