A committee of right-of-centre politicians and figures from sport and entertainment had collected 140,949 signatures. Government and parliament opposed the initiative, and only 29.3% of voters and not a single canton said yes, on a turnout of 40.8%. The Swiss vote archive sums the result up as a clear no to pure repression and support for a broad drug policy.[1]
