Industrial growers could seek licences for certified hemp crops containing no more than 1% THC, with storage, processing, supply and sale also licensed.[1] The Act raised the earlier 0.3% exception and created a national hemp institute; it took effect the day after publication on 14 September 2023.[1] Parliament passed it unanimously after a proposal introduced in February 2022.[2]
