A government committee chaired by the prime minister designated two districts of Andong, in North Gyeongsang, as a regulation-free zone for industrial hemp: hemp with less than 0.3% THC may be grown there in smart farms and CBD extracted from it as a pharmaceutical raw material. The province said the food and drug ministry had been strongly against it. Hemp had been grown for cloth in every Korean province as late as the 1930s.[1][2]
