Singapore's Misuse of Drugs Act takes effect
The Act replaced the 1951 Dangerous Drugs Ordinance and the 1969 Drugs (Prevention of Misuse) Act. It consolidated drug offences and gave CNB broad arrest, search and urine-testing powers, alongside compulsory treatment and heavier penalties.
