Tightening 🇸🇬 Singapore

Singapore widens its cannabis definition to catch semi-synthetic cannabinoids

On 1 June 2024 CNB expanded the definition of 'cannabinol derivatives' in the Misuse of Drugs Act to cover hexahydro derivatives, semi-synthetic cannabinoids reported to have the same effects as THC.[1] The same date brought the psychoactive substance framework into force, allowing action against unscheduled synthetic drugs that mimic cannabis.[2] Cannabis itself remained a Class A controlled drug in the First Schedule.[1]
