Supreme Court confirms alternatives to mandatory imprisonment
Henderson v Blackwell held that the three-month minimum written into the 1970 possession law did not stop a district court from imposing a fine or conditional discharge in an appropriate marijuana case. The court remitted Henderson's sentence for rehearing.
