The provincial assembly passed an amendment on 3 March 2025 that replaced the penalty table in the 2019 narcotics act and defined a 'recreational drug' to include bhang, siddhi and ganja. The governor assented on 20 March and the act was gazetted on 27 March. It also replaced references to methamphetamine with psychotropic substances and changed the wording on cultivation and possession licences. Cannabis stayed in the same prohibited table, with prison up to life at the top weight bands.[1]
