Oman opens two addiction treatment centres

Oman opened new treatment and rehabilitation centres in Muscat and Sohar in 2025, adding to Al Masarra Hospital and 16 specialised psychiatric outpatient clinics, the Oman Human Rights Commission reported in March 2026. A further centre was planned for Dhofar. The centres treat drug dependence; the law still provides no patient route to cannabis as medicine.[1]
