Oman replaced the 1999 drug law's national committee with one attached to the National Security Council, and renamed it the National Committee for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs. The decree also repealed the article that had set out the old committee's powers. The cannabis offences stayed as they were: possession, supply and trafficking kept the penalties set in 1999 and 2015. It was published in Gazette 1490 on 25 April 2023 and took effect the next day.[1]
