Debate 🇳🇵 Nepal

Nepal's finance minister backs regulated cannabis

Answering a question in the National Assembly on 21 August 2026, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle said medicinal legalisation was reasonable and that the Finance Ministry would facilitate regulated cultivation if experts studied it and a law was passed. He said cannabis was not in the current budget and that the Home Ministry held the lead. No federal bill followed, and the 1976 Act remained in force.[1]
