Mongolia's 1986 Criminal Code, adopted on 5 December 1986, banned planting or growing opium poppy, Indian hemp and other prohibited narcotic plants under Article 255. The offence carried up to three years in prison or 18 months of correctional labour. It was the earliest verified cannabis cultivation ban, though a 1961 code may have had an earlier equivalent.[1]
