Louisiana restores prison exposure for marijuana in school zones

Marijuana possession violating the school-zone law can bring up to one year in prison, with or without hard labour, plus an optional fine up to $1,000. The rule includes amounts of 14 g or less, ordinarily fine-only elsewhere. School property, the surrounding 2,000 feet and school buses are covered.[1][2] The amendment took effect on 1 August 2026.[3]
