Kenya lowers the penalty for cannabis for personal use
An amendment to the narcotics Act halved the maximum for cannabis held solely for one's own use, from ten years to five, and added the option of a fine of up to 100,000 shillings. For other possession it set very heavy tiered penalties, from at least five years for under a gram to life above 100 grams.
