Investors propose a cannabis clinic in Kazakhstan; the interior ministry says no

A group of investors said they would spend $15 million on a greenhouse near Kapshagay and a clinic using a cannabis oil for cancer patients, and would start talks with the health and interior ministries. The interior ministry's anti-drug department said cultivating any narcotic plant was punishable by up to eight years, and that only technical hemp with no cannabinoids could be grown. It also said it had stopped a research lab in Almaty two years earlier, citing the UN drug conventions. The proposal did not create a legal route.[1]
