Law 87-1157, signed on 31 December 1987 and published on 5 January 1988, criminalised laundering drug-trafficking proceeds and expanded asset freezing and confiscation. It prescribed two to ten years' imprisonment for supplying drugs to minors or in teaching establishments or administrative premises, and extended limitation periods for trafficking prosecutions and sentences. These provisions covered narcotic drugs generally, including cannabis; they did not create a new offence of personal cannabis use.[1]
