Five months after its ruling on the marches, the court read the 2006 drug law's offence of inducing or instigating someone to use drugs so that it cannot be used against public demonstrations and debates on decriminalisation or legalisation. Justice Ayres Britto wrote that criminalising drug use is one thing and debating that criminalisation another, and that such gatherings are protected as long as they are peaceful. The vote was unanimous, on a case brought by the Prosecutor General.[1]
